Join Honens as they make music accessible to everyone with this special afternoon concert featuring Sies / Parsons Duo.
“Seeing my young son experience live music for the first time, in a setting where he was free to be himself, without expectations or restrictions, is something I will always remember.”
Join Sies / Parsons Duo with Jani Parsons on piano and Chris Sies on percussion, for a relaxed, sensory-friendly performance designed to welcome all audiences, including neurodivergent individuals and families with young children. This adaptive concert brings you beloved classical works to life with thoughtful pacing, narration, and space for every listener to engage in their own way.
With modern works such as Marc Mellits’ Tight Sweater Remix, and Joseph Koykkar’s thrilling Musica Per Due the pair invites you into their sound world, blending rhythmic elements of the piano with the melodic nuances of different percussion instruments. Jani will pay homage to the solo piano literature in a performance of Mozart’s 12 Variations on “Ah, vous dirai-je Maman”, K. 265, the original inspiration for “Twinkle-Twinkle Little Star” while Chris offers a new masterwork for tuned pipes, Solo to Anthony Cirone by Lou Harrison.
This program represents the duo’s eclectic interests as performers and will surely give you a memorable and expressive sonic experience.
Presented in partnership with the National Music Centre and Xenia Concerts, this event is part of Honens’ commitment to making exceptional music accessible to everyone.
$5 per family (ticket fee refunded upon arrival).
