NATIONAL MUSIC CENTRE LAUNCHES EXPANDED DIGITAL PLATFORM, AMPLIFY, ON FEBRUARY 24

AN ONLINE HUB AIMED AT BRINGING THE VISION OF THE NATIONAL MUSIC CENTRE TO AUDIENCES EVERYWHERE

(February 18, 2021— Calgary, AB) The National Music Centre (NMC) is pleased to launch its new, expanded digital platform, Amplify, on February 24.

Amplify will serve as an extension of NMC’s onsite programs, including exhibitions, artist development, performance, and education. An online hub for the sounds and stories of music in Canada with the aim of connecting with music fans everywhere.

Visitors to the site can get a guided tour of the museum virtually through the Top 10 Hits series presented by Bell; delve into articles on NMC’s vast collection of historic musical instruments, equipment, and memorabilia; and learn more about the power of music for healing and wellness. They can read features on made-in-Canada moments and trailblazing artists and hear from diverse voices across Canada’s cultural mosaic. Also accessible are online concerts that put the spotlight on Canadian artists, and fun educational videos designed for students and families that connect science to sound.

“Now nearly a year into the pandemic, it’s become clear how much we need music in our daily lives to help us get through these challenging times,” said Andrew Mosker, President and CEO, NMC. “Music connects us and keeps us engaged when we are not able to be together and, most importantly, it inspires, heals, and brings solace to our lives. Knowing this, we have invested in our digital platform to ensure that music lovers are able to access and enjoy NMC’s programs from anywhere, whenever they need them.”

Starting February 24, read, watch, listen, and explore from the safety of home at amplify.nmc.ca.
